We have been designing a new [to us] parlor guitar shape and want to share some of our costruction process.
First came the drawings:
The above drawing shows the template for our small design over layed on the parlor design drawing.
With the drawing and the template established we completed two tops.
We used this hand device to cut the outside and inside edges of the rosette's circlular inlay.
Here's my antique router plane being used to clean our the bottom surface of the rosette area.
So with the rosette inlayed and glued in place, the top was braced and made ready to be glued to the sides.
Here we put the parlor sides into the small guitar form. You can see the diferences.
With the top and the back glued on the binding is fitted and the rubber bands used to hold things in place until the glue has set.
