Arch top guitars have been a passion for as long as I can remember.
I am sure the visual appeal is their similar shape to instruments in the violin family.
Not just the look though. They feel good to hold and play. The warm tones available are an invitation to players of all levels.
Set up for acoustic play the properly designed and made arch top guitar will respond instantly to a very light touch or boom out when more force is used. Quite an inspiration for the player looking for tonal expression in his or her music.
Each instrument is unique, having it's own combination of beautiful wood.
Tops of spruce or tops of cedar, backs and sides of maple, walnut or cherry.
Finger boards and trim of ebony, ziricote, cocobolo or rosewood.
All carefully selected and shaped .
Limited selections of inlay work are available but we prefer to concentrate on fine wood and beautiful finishes.
In addition to the traditional Canadian lutz spruce tops we are currently exploring western red cedar from Canada as a top wood.
If spruce topped arch tops have usually been to bright a sound for your musical ear, you may find cedar the answer.
This past year we also made an all cedar arch top. Back, top, sides and neck were all cedar. Light as a feather yet wonderful warm tone and amazing sustain. Our first all cedar instrument had a 16 inch body yet still has a very big sound.
This guitar was so successful that we plan to build more over the coming year.

You can even follow our builds on line. We will be making an 18 inch all cedar arch top for the demonstration instrument of the on line class we are leading.
Check out the beginning as we split a massive cedar billet to make our one piece top and back for this 18 inch guitar.
